/ Hie Jinja
Hie Jinja in Toyama City has served as the guardian shrine of Toyama Castle and its surrounding townspeople since the castle's founding. The current site was established alongside the castle in the late 16th century, and the shrine's Sanno Festival — first documented in 1690 — developed into one of the most celebrated processions in the Hokuriku region. The festival's elaborate floats (dashi) and masked performers continue to draw large crowds each spring.
