One of Japan's Three Great Sumiyoshi Shrines, this is the ichinomiya of Nagato Province. Its main hall — a connected structure of five individual halls — is a National Treasure dating to 1370, the only example of this linked-hall arrangement among Sumiyoshi shrines.
Current National Treasure main hall constructed by the Ōuchi clan.
