Enoshima Shrine sprawls across the island of Enoshima off the Shonan coast, one of Japan's Three Great Benzaiten shrines. Three sister goddesses are enshrined in three separate halls connected by paths that wind through the island's hilltop gardens.
Possibly originated in 552 with a cave shrine. Minamoto no Yoritomo enshrined Benzaiten here in 1182. One of Japan's Three Great Benzaiten shrines. The shrine comprises three halls — Hetsu-no-Miya, Nakatsu-no-Miya, and Okutsu-no-Miya — spread across the island.
